What will we do in a consultation?

Upon arrival, I will welcome you into the treatment room, which has comfortable chairs, a large desk, some toys for children, and products displayed on shelving.

We will go through the basic information first - name, age, occupation, and allergies, and then progress to why you have chosen to make an appointment.

After gathering information about your present complaint, we will delve a little deeper into your past medical history, as well as current diet and lifestyle. Depending on your concern, we will also look at digestion, menstrual history (if applicable), energy levels or fluctuations, stress, musculoskeletal aches and pains and food cravings or aversions.

Once we have a full picture, I will explain why the current symptoms are present, and what is influencing them, and then create a treatment plan to help manage or improve them. This may be done on the spot, or if further investigation is required, we may need to wait for tests, or research, to complete this process.

All supplements or herbal remedies will be discussed with you, and explained to you, and your budget will be taken into consideration when putting together a treatment plan.

How often will I need to see you?

It will depend on the reason for your visit. Sometimes we need to have regular appointments - every 2 to 4 weeks, to address your health concern properly. Sometime only one session is required before review in a months time. Rest assured I will discuss this with you, and outline how long I believe treatment will take.

What payment options do you offer?

I accept cash, or card at the time of the appointment. If a payment plan is required please discuss this with me prior to you consultation so we can create one.

Can I come to see you if I am on medication?

Yes of course! Often we find that the symptoms clients experience are side effects of necessary medications. Some medications also deplete essential nutrients, and some cause people to feel unwell. Naturopathy can assist with all of these issues.

Please compile a list of all medications and dosages so a thorough review can be done, and to ensure that there are no interactions with any possible herbal or nutritional remedy. It is very important to be upfront about this.

What are the Naturopathic principles?

Naturopaths practice the six fundamental principles of naturopathic medicine:

The Healing Power of Nature
Trust in the body’s inherent wisdom to heal itself.

Identify and Treat the Causes
Look beyond the symptoms to the underlying cause.

First Do No Harm
Utilize the most natural, least invasive and least toxic therapies.

Doctor as Teacher
Educate patients in the steps to achieving and maintaining health.

Treat the Whole Person
View the body as an integrated whole in all its physical and spiritual dimensions.

Prevention
Focus on overall health, wellness and disease prevention.

How long are appointments?

An initial appointment is 60 minutes long, and a follow up session is 45 minutes. If you have a few quick questions, or an acute condition we can arrange a 15 or 30 minute phone chat, or consultation.
