The Hair 500 Test update – our progress

It has been almost 6 months since we sent our hair away to be analysed against more than 500 foods and household products, and I am ashamed to say – I haven’t given you all an update! My previous post on the Hair Test 500+ – read here, was really popular, and since then many people have taken up the challenge, and found relief for different ailments, but how are we going??

When I completed the test my main goal was to find the underlying cause of the horrible eczema I have had on my hands for many years. It goes away when we travel, and comes back as soon as we return. It has kept me awake at night, burning hot, and it has made me wear gloves so I can slather it with cream, and cover it until it felt soothed, without ripping the skin off scratching. I have taken omega 3’s, I have worked on gut health, I have tried elimination diets, but nothing got to the root of the issue. Until this test. Since following the Hair test diet I can say it is 100% gone. So what was the trigger? One of the foods that came back as incompatible was eggs, and anyone who knows me, knows I have been having eggs with veggies for years now. To think – this is the cause of my eczema was unbelievable – they’re so good for you! but… I followed the hair test, cut them out, (although I am allowed organics eggs, which I eat less frequently), and bam! no more rash.

That was my main symptom – I didn’t have much bloating, reflux, or wind (or so I thought). After cutting out the foods that came up ‘incompatible’ I didn’t really notice much difference to my dismay – however, as soon as I add one back in (because who doesn’t like a hot chicken on a Saturday afternoon, or rice with their stir fry!) the difference is amazing! I instantly notice how much more bloated I am, how much more gas I have (TMI?), and how if affects my digestion, reflux wise. So has following these results helped? Definitely!

What about my daughter?? She needed to eliminate a few foods and I will be honest – she had a detox reaction. A rash that came up, got worse – and wouldn’t budge with anything that we did, then vanished. I believe it was her body clearing out waste, now that she was able to detoxify properly. But since then, she hasn’t had any eczema flare ups, and has been really happy and healthy, growing well, and flourishing. For Quinn banana was a main one to cut out, which was hard as you know how much kids love them, but she adjusted, and the benefits of avoiding a few foods, and products, like the nappy brand she was using, have been great.

The next step for us is to retest, and see what foods we can now add back in to our diet slowly.

What symptom would you like to get rid of? Is it Eczema like us? or perhaps bloating? Fatigue? Reflux? Migraines? the list of conditions this can be beneficial for is almost endless..
